About
Joshua Richardson is a trial lawyer who represents clients in complex commercial disputes, products liability litigation, and other high-stakes civil matters. He has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country through every stage of litigation, from dispositive motion practice and expert discovery to depositions, trial preparation, and jury trials. Joshua has served on multiple trial teams, including the team that obtained a $1.562 billion verdict in 2023, recognized as the third-largest jury verdict that year.
Before joining Hilgers, Joshua practiced at Forrest Weldon Law Group, where he represented clients in complex products liability and mass tort litigation. His practice involved developing litigation strategy, briefing and arguing significant legal issues, managing expert-intensive discovery, conducting and defending depositions, and trying cases before juries. Through this experience, Joshua developed a practical understanding of the strategic and procedural challenges presented by complex, nationwide litigation.
Prior to entering private practice, Joshua served as a law clerk to the Honorable Amos L. Mazzant III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. During his clerkship, he assisted the Court through multiple jury trials and numerous civil and criminal proceedings, gaining firsthand insight into judicial decision-making, trial practice, and federal litigation. Joshua draws upon that experience to provide clients with practical, thoughtful, and results-oriented advocacy.
Joshua earned his J.D. cum laude from Baylor University School of Law. While at Baylor, Joshua served as an executive editor for the Baylor Law Review and participated on Baylor’s Interscholastic Moot Court Team. He received the Brian J. Serr Excellence in Appellate Advocacy Award and multiple awards recognizing excellence in written and oral advocacy. He also served as a research assistant to Professor James Underwood, conducting extensive research on issues involving improper joinder in the federal courts. Prior to law school, Joshua earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting magna cum laude from Mississippi College.
Joshua lives in Dallas with his wife, Caitlin, also a commercial litigation attorney, and their two dogs.
