Leanne has extensive experience counseling companies on sensitive employment matters, and defending employers against claims of discrimination and harassment based on sex, race, disability, religion, age, national origin, and other protected categories; wrongful discharge; breach of contract; breach of covenants not to compete; misappropriation of trade secrets; and retaliation. Leanne represents clients in administrative proceedings and helps companies respond effectively to charges of discrimination filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and related state agencies. She is experienced in state and federal wage and hour issues, FMLA, and state and local sick leave laws. Leanne also has extensive experience developing policies and procedures for employers in order to best protect her clients’ interests.
Prior to joining Hilgers, Leanne practiced as a senior attorney in the employment practice group at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP in Dallas. Leanne also worked as an attorney at Baker Botts, LLP and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and in-house at TRT Holdings, Inc.
Leanne earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Texas School of Law, where she served on the Texas Law Review, as well as a Teaching Quizmaster in legal writing program
